Our Story

ScrambleWise started as a Weekend project to fix a frustrating Scrabble loss. The existing word unscramblers online were slow, plastered with ads, and locked you into a single dictionary that didn't match the game we were actually playing.

So we built our own — and then kept building. One tool turned into a small toolkit: an anagram solver for puzzles, a crossword pattern matcher, a Scrabble cheat with proper letter scoring, a word finder for browsing the dictionary, a generator for writing prompts, and a rhyming dictionary for lyric-writers.

Every tool runs entirely in your browser. There's no backend collecting your queries, no account to create, and no premium tier hiding the good features. If it's useful to you, that's the whole point.

Our Mission

To make working with words delightful: fast enough that you forget the tool is there, flexible enough to handle the messy reality of jumbled racks and half-finished crossword grids, and clear enough that you spot the answer without scrolling past a wall of advertisements.

We treat your time and your privacy as the two scarcest resources on the modern web. ScrambleWise tries hard to respect both, your time and privacy.

What We Stand For

Fast by default

Tools should answer in milliseconds, not after a spinner and a banner ad. We prioritise quick interactions over fancy infrastructure.

Honestly free

No paywalls. No "unlock all features" upgrades. Every tool is fully usable from the first visit, forever.

Privacy first

Your searches run entirely in your browser and never reach our servers. We keep cookies and tracking to a minimum, and we tell you exactly what's collected — see the Privacy Policy for the current state.

How It Works (Under the Hood)

ScrambleWise loads a public-domain English dictionary the first time you use a tool, then caches it in your browser for the rest of your visit. All matching, scoring, and filtering happens locally on your device.

You can switch between two dictionaries:

Every page is plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no frameworks, no build step, no third-party services beyond the initial dictionary fetch.
